Intalgent Builds Advanced Mobile Phone Platform for VOCEL

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (December 21st, 2004) -- Intalgent, an emerging provider of custom technology solutions, today announced that it has developed with VOCEL the platform for a patent-pending application for mobile phones. This application utilizes push technology to enable mobile phone users to respond to text messages with one click thereby eliminating the need for multi-tapping. The new technology is targeted for delivery on phones serviced by major wireless carriers.

In July 2004, The Princeton Review and VOCEL began developing a new SAT preparation program called Prep for the SAT which uses this new push technology. This innovative program turns mobile phones into SAT preparation tools using Flash cards and mini-tests that pop up in a user's phone display window to quiz students on subjects including vocabulary, grammar, arithmetic, and geometry. Students can schedule time for the phone to ring with new questions that are constantly refreshed by the service. Parents can ask to receive updates on how well their children are doing via SMS or the Web.

Intalgent built components of the VOCEL prototype earlier this year to validate and showcase the various technologies used in the VOCEL application family. Specifically, the prototype was built to demonstrate the scalability, reliability, and integration of the Java 2 Platform Enterprise Edition (J2EE) platform within a Linux environment. "Intalgent offered the expertise and innovative thinking we needed to build a platform that could ultimately push messaging to millions of users," said Carl Washburn, CEO for VOCEL. "They offered the right technology recommendations to ensure our success."

Jeff Gunther, Intalgent President, said, "To create the best possible solutions for our customers, Intalgent actively promotes the use of Open Source software. VOCEL's forward-thinking decision to embrace and extend the use of standards-based technology and Open Source software allowed them to quickly take Prep for the SAT to the marketplace, while reducing their operational expenses."
